Created by GM, OnStar equips vehicles to respond to a crash automatically. So even when the people in a collision cannot respond, OnStar will.

OnStar's Automatic Crash Response¹ service demonstrates our belief that drivers deserve the best possible collision response. Built-in sensors alert our Advisors and transmit critical crash data — direction and severity of impact, air bag deployment, and rollover status. Our Advisors relay this data so emergency responders can better prepare to care for the injured at the scene and at the trauma center.

In 1996, Air Bag Deployment triggered an OnStar response; today, Automatic Crash Response uses multiple sensors that can detect a collision, alert an Advisor, and send crash details.

OnStar services require vehicle electrical system (including battery), wireless service and GPS satellite signals to be available and operating for features to function properly.
